Gretchen's family
felt that they weren't spending enough time with her after
the arrival of their two children. She was briefly placed with
an older couple who soon realized they weren't prepared for
the responsibilities of dog ownership.
Good with
Everyone. Gretchen
is used to children but would probably be best with older children
because she is spooked by loud noises and lots of activity.
She is great with other dogs (submissive) and even cats!
Best feature
Gretchen is very
calm and gentle. She is the perfect dog for a less active person
who wants a constant companion.
Training
Gretchen is housetrained,
although extra supervision is recommended during the first
few days/weeks in her new home. She knows how to sit on cue.
She walks very nicely on leash after she gets over her initial
excitement.
Needs
Gretchen is a low-maintenance
dog. She doesn't need much exercise but she does enjoy a daily
walk. She would be happiest with a gentle, quiet owner. Her
greatest need is for companionship. She would be perfectly
content to lie by your feet for hours and hours. It is recommended
that she be crated or otherwise confined when riding in the
car because she gets very excited (especially when going to
the park!).
